Families of Aurora shooting victims say fund money going to nonprofits

Some of the victims and family members of the victims of the Aurora shooting are saying that the money that was donated to them is actually being given to nonprofit organizations. One family member said that they were told they would get the first payment, but were never actually paid. According to this source, only some of the victims were given a check sent out by an organization for the victims, but there was not any input from the victims on where the money would go.

Romney formally chosen as GOP nominee, convention moves into full swing

Mitt Romney was formally named the GOP presidential nominee during the convention on Tuesday. Polls have been showing that President Obama and Romney are running a relatively even race. To push Romney ahead, Republicans will be trying to prove that Obama has failed as president and that Romney can restore the economy.

17 partygoers beheaded by insurgents in Afghanistan


Last Sunday, 17 people were beheaded in Afghanistan by Taliban commanders during a party. It is unclear what started the fight that resulted in the deaths, but an official said that an argument over two women could have been the main reason. In another area of Afghanistan, there were two American soldiers killed by an Afghan soldier, but it was most likely an accidental killing.
